Standard 6.Reflection
The candidate will regularly evaluate and reflect on their professional practice and dispositions to improve and strengthen their ability to effectively model and facilitate technology-enhanced learning experiences.
Briefly describe the artifact and the context in which it was created. What was your individual contribution(s)?
This artifact is my blog entries from my Weebly site. After each course, I wrote a blog reflection, and they are all contained on this site. This was an assignment that I completed independently, but it is also one that I found great value in doing.
Explain how this artifact demonstrates mastery of the standard/element under which it is placed.
This represents mastery of Standard 6.2 in that it was an ongoing reflection throughout this journey of an education! I’m so thankful for the fact that I wrote these after each course. Particularly because of the struggles I’ve had through this program, it has been great to have those to go back and reflect on. They are great reminders of things that I may have intended to do and forgot, or perhaps just that I needed to be reminded to do again. I believe that going back to read those was just what I needed to be better able to model and facilitate technology experiences.
What did you learn from completing this artifact? What would you do differently to improve the quality of the artifact or the process involved in creating the artifact?
I have learned that blogging is a WONDERFUL way to reflect my thinking and to put words into practice. I will make a point to go back to these often, and I think I will keep this up even after graduation and add experiences to it! I believe that I could have improved it by making a point to blog when I had those “aha” moments, not just when I was assigned. I finally see the value in blogging!
How did the work that went into creating the artifact impact school improvement, faculty development or student learning? How can the impact be assessed?
I think that it has improved those who I “serve,” because I have gone back and looked at what I had done and have shared ideas and thoughts with others. These things are valuable, and it’s hard to say how to assess it, but I guess that it could simply be assessed through observation of other teachers and colleagues and see that they are doing the things I’ve discussed.
