Vision
Technology Vision
What is my vision for technology in P-12 schools?
As I look to the future, I see technology completely integrated into the everyday programs of the p-12 classrooms. Each student will have a tablet or laptop on which to work. Lessons will be infused with technology so that students will be able to communicate and collaborate with peers in their classrooms, as well as those across the nation and even in other countries. Students will be trained in the use of digital tools and resources, so that they are supported in their everyday use of higher-order thinking skills, processes and mental habits of mind.
The most exciting part to me is the role that I, as a technology leader, will help all of this to become a reality. I will facilitate the use of online and blended learning and learning networks to share, model and facilitate classroom methods that will maximize student learning experiences. I will be available to teachers and students to help determine what, if any, adaptive technology would benefit a student, and I will be prepared to help with any needed troubleshooting. I also will incorporate lessons on digital citizenship and responsibility for students and teachers, as this is more critical now than in years past. I will implement professional development for those staff members that work in computer labs as well, in order to help them to use digital tools to enhance cultural understanding. It will be valuable to model the safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technologies.
We live in a digital age, and it is imperative that we serve as leaders to provide our students with the foundation they need in order to be successful and contributing citizens.
